This page publishes no local price average and no formula that converts a pump depth into a price. There is no verified data source mapping pump setting depth bands to cost ranges in Virginia, so generating those numbers would be fabrication. Depth is treated as what it actually is: a cost factor.

The two depths — and why quotes go wrong when they are confused

Total well depth is how deep the well was drilled. Pump setting depth, or intake depth, is how far down the pump actually hangs. They are separate measurements and a well can easily be drilled far deeper than its pump is set.

Setting depth is the one that drives cost. It determines how much drop pipe and cable are involved, how the pump has to be handled coming out and going back in, and how long the work takes. If a homeowner gives a provider a total well depth believing it to be the setting depth, the resulting quote is built on the wrong number.

When you request quotes, state which number you are giving. Your well records may contain both.

The expensive mistake worth avoiding

The costliest outcome in this whole subject is a new pump installed into a well whose real constraint is yield. The equipment is fine, the installation is fine, and the household still runs out of water.
